Tis' the St. Patrick's Day Season

Some of you know I have a particular fascination with the Emerald Isle. Its easy to get swallowed up with its dynamic history and the rich folklore, laden with all sorts of fairies, giants, and unbelievable heroes. This Friday, March 17th, Irelanders and many others around the world will honor the patron saint of Ireland with parades, religious ceremonies, and family gatherings-and all while wearing at least of smidge of green. That's just the kind of green we're into here at Westwood Color.

Handmade Ink from Cascara Sagrada Berries

In spirit of the St. Patrick's Day traditions, were putting our absolute favorite green ink, Cascara Green, on sale for a limited time. Every summer our “cascade buckthorn,” Cascara Sagrada, showers us with blackish-purple berries perfect for dyes and inks. With a little knowledge of pH, the blah black colors of the berry can transform into a wide range of greens. After a lot of fine-tuning, I've honed in on my favorite.

I've always liked the Cascara Green with Wild Blackcap and Walnut Brown, but I can't even think of a Westwood Color ink with whom it couldn't play well. Cascara Green is pH sensitive, so it is not only easy to manipulate on your palette, but it can take on a different character depending upon your paper.

Have some fun with it! Add Westwood Color's Cascara Green to your collection while it's 17 % off.

Now, carry on with your St. Patrick's Day celebrations and show your appreciation for the Emerald Isle. After all, who wants to imagine a world without Guinness Extra Stout, the writings of C.S. Lewis, or the musical treasure of Northern Ireland, Two Door Cinema Club.

Westwood Color inks are formulated for painting, calligraphy, and wood staining. If you find other uses for them, please let me know at explore@westwoodcolor.com. My kids are begging me to try coloring Easter eggs...stay tuned.
